Campfire Legend: The Hookman

Ever you known or maybe played Campfire Legend? An old game I think but, I just like watching a movie when I played it because of its storyline. Campfire Legend itself is a hidden object adventure game for PC created by GameHouse Studio.  And this time I want to make a review of Campfire Legend, my favorite series game. But, I just make the review for the story line, like what I said just like a movie.
It is quite hard for me to solve the puzzles in it so if you like the ‘hard think’ thingy, just play it by your brain ability to solve the problems till the end. But if you are too lazy to think so hard to do it, you can find the walkthrough cheats and strategy here (like what I did #shamelessly) LOL. For this post, I want to make a review of story line from Campfire Legend: The Hookman and if I satisfied with my writing, I will continue it to Campfire Legend: The Babysitter. Campfire Legend: The Hookman

This game is just like story behind story. In the beginning of the game, we will see a group of girls are sitting around the campfire and tell a mystery story to their friends.

It was quite years ago, on a moonlit just like this one. There was this girl Christine. She had planned a romantic weekend with her boyfriend at her parents’ cabin. But Patrick was late again so her best friend dropped her. Arrived at her parents’ cabin, Christine finds a note posted on the front door by her parents told that the key is kept in the usual hiding place (under a stone they meant). Found the key, Christine straight to the key to open the door but she found that the electricity was out. So, she must open the shutters to let in some moonlight so she could reach the fuse box in the basement. But she the fuse must be fixed first.

After finding the whole need things to open the shutter, Christine went inside the house to the basement to repair the fuse. She need more stuffs so she started to search them in the shed but she noticed someone stole her suitcase and when she was out from the shed she found that her suitcase was back but it was in a mess. So she collected her whole clothes and stuffs back to the suitcase and continued to enter the basement to fix the fuse.

Finished with the fuse thingy and the light turned on, Christine was shocked to see the place was ransacked and she heard a noise.

So she decided to go upstairs right to her bedroom. Christine then turned the radio on there and listened to a shocking news from the 100 FM.

“repeating our top story.. police have issued an all-points bulletin for what is being called the “Hookman” killer who was seen near Still Water sanatorium. He is still at large and extremely dangerous ...”

Because of the news, Christine went to the living room to get the phone to call police.

+ Police department, Sheriff Cahill speaking.

-    Uhh, I’m calling to report a break-in.

+ Is the intruder still in the house ma’am?

-    Well, no, but it’s really weird and there’s ....

+ Ma’am, I can’t spare anyone right now for “really weird” so it’ll be a few hours....

Christine was still disappointed with sheriff’s answer, got more shock when a man came in to the cabin without knocking first and just say “Baby, sorry I’m late. Hey what’s wrong?” He is Patrick, Christine’s boyfriend.

Christine told Patrick if there was somebody broke in and it looked like they were looking for something but he just said he is now there for Christine, wish it could calm her down. She still tried to make Patrick sure that some killer was on the loose at the sanatorium told by the radio. But once again Patrick just said that it was probably nothing and he bets it was some animal looking for food. So Patrick offered to take a ride to make her feel better but the car was stuck.

Patrick then went to the shed if he could find something for the carburetor. When Christine was alone in the car, she could see from the view mirror there was a man without head walking behind their car but then Patrick shocked her.

Still with her shock, Christine could only stare Patrick with scared face and Patrick only said that she just need to relax and don’t look at him like that. He found some starter fluid in the shed and asked Christine to go to the lookout spot by the lake. Christine still thought about the break in but Patrick said that he saw some wild cat behind the shed. The cat probably got in, looking for food. Patrick refused to talk about the killer talked on radio and asked her to build a fire. Christine didn’t agree with Patrick but he made her sure that it would be fun. Christine more got angry asked if Patrick had been out of his mind. Patrick just like “I’ll go get some wood. You get find us a good spot.”

Finally, Christine was done with the campfire till Patrick just said that he was looking for wood, but stopped to watch the meteor shower. Christine didn’t believe he could still watch the meteor shower while she was still scare about the break in.

Then Patrick offered to get some chocolate and marshmallows and he would be back. But, Christine heard the car was like fight something and when she run to see Patrick, he was lost.

Not think too long, Christine decided to fix the car by herself so she could get out of there. The tire was been slashed and she remembered that the spare was in the trunk. Finished searching what her need, she started to change the slashed tire. Then, she searched a rag for the empty radiator and a can to take water to fill it. And she continued to fix the engine but she should search the wire. Ready with her work, Christine noticed there was somebody standing not so far behind her and she thought the man was Patrick. Tried to call his name, the man just run and Christine said that was not funny, Patrick.

When Christine walked to the lake side to find Patrick so they could get the heck out of the place, She saw the man again but when Christine called his name again, he just walk away. Christine followed him and thought that he went into the boathouse near the lake.

Entered the boathouse, Christine found nobody there except a mess condition. Then she found a punch card machine and tried to use it to a torn punch card. She found a paper typed about Haken and his formula X76.

Finish with the torn punch card thingy, Christine continued her searching to find Patrick. She thought she should check the secret entrance. Maybe Patrick wandered through there.

In the wood, Christine found an old gate covered by a bush of roses and she tried to enter it and it was a path to a cemetery. Succeed open the gate, she could saw there was some light back there and continued to go there because maybe that was Patrick went. The light was came from a crypt and Christine decided to enter it and she was so shocked with the creepy atmosphere inside the crypt.

The crypt looked like a place for someone to make an experiment. There were so many chemical acids, bones, and also medical file. Even there was Christine’s medical file and some articles about Dr. Haken there. Christine thought that Dr. Hakens tried to kill all the people on the newspaper she found at one tile inside the crypt.

She then found many items from a woman and some seem to be burned, a box full of toys and stuffs for a boy, a bunch of medical stuffs and some burned items.

Not finish with the whole mystery, Christine than get shocked by a girl spirit that told that the man with the hook has nothing left but his anger. Christine asked who she was. And she answered that she was Lilly Haken and her dad was keeping them here and trying to use their remains to bring them back. She asked Christine’s help to burn their remains and files so they can have peace.

Christine tried to find the whole remains and files and then burned them to an oven. And then the girl and her brother and sister’s spirit fly away and said thank to Christine. Suddenly the oven was exploding. 

Not think too long, Christine straight to find some wires to fix the car and get out of there.

Christine then heard there was someone who was banging on the door and he was The Hookman. The Hookman forced to open the door with his hook and Christine tried hard to hold him off.

Patrick then came with a block of wood in his hand and helped Christine to hold the man off. Patrick told Christine to run and get the car and let him to handle The Hookman.

Patrick followed Christine to the car and asked what that thing was and Christine said just get in and she would explain it later. Patrick said he had barricaded the door but not finish with his explanation, they were shocked by someone who broke the back of the car. Christine screamed it was The Hookman and Patrick told her to start the car.

They speed their car to a police office to get help. And when they looked back at the car, they saw Dr Haken’s hook still hanging from their car.

I’m still confuse because the writer didn’t explain where Patrick went and who the headless man was. And for Dr Haken’s experiment, it will be revealed in the Campfire Legend: The Babysitter.
